Day one of Winter Camp last week was Dinosaur Day. In the first five minutes of camp all students were instructed to take a preconstructed name tag with a dinosaur printed on it and write their names in crayon at the top. I had created my own nametag earlier that day and wore it, pointing to my name many times as I encouraged my five-year olds to write their own names on their tags. We completed the assignment and the morning continued on. It wasn’t until later that I looked down at one of my favorite kids Cabin’s nametag. Cabin is that kid who always gives 110% and tries so hard to keep up with the others but just somehow never does. Anyway I look down at his name tag and there staring right back up at me where his name should be was “B.E.C.K.Y.”
That’s right, he completely missed the point that it was his name tag and instead had just copied the example of my name tag! How adorable : )
